INTRODUCTION:- The department of commerce is instrumental in providing candidates with through knowledge and understanding of the principles of commerce and business. The Department of Commerce was established, and started functioning in the college from 2014. The first batch of B. Com students commenced that very year and passed out successfully from the college. It is imbibed with the tradition of exploring new frontiers of knowledge and innovation in academics. The department of commerce offers b.com under the flagship scheme of CBCS as per the guidelines of university grants commission and university of Kashmir. The Department is committed to prepare the students for working on executive and managerial positions with confidence to apply theoretical and practical knowledge for the development of commercial ventures.

Commerce department provides an enabling environment to help its students stand out both academically and in shaping them to an overall balanced personality both in terms of the college’s vision and today’s competitive environment. The department is designed to strike a balance between professional knowledge and personal skills. Commerce and business education is highly application oriented and hence important building block in creating a skilled and industrious workforce. Our mission would, therefore, be to improve on the natural abilities and impart professionalism to students in the world of business and finance. Our departments’ endeavour is to enlighten the surrounding rural areas about the usefulness and importance of the subject by encouraging and inviting maximum students for the enrolment in the department. We embrace the responsibility to develop young people and their capabilities to take up the challenges and shape the business, Economy and Society. The department is equipped with highly educated and talented faculty combining academic excellence and real world experience with dedication and commitment. The faculty of commerce specialized in varied aspects of Commerce and Management – in areas like Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Taxation and Corporate/Business Laws and International Business- hone the academic skills of students enrolled in its undergraduate courses.

PROGRAMME OUTCOME

 

After completing three years for Bachelors in Commerce (B.Com) program, students would gain a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of Commerce and Finance. The commerce and finance focused curriculum offers a number of specializations and practical exposures which would equip the student to face the modern-day challenges in commerce and business.

 

Program Specific Outcome (PSO)

 

  • Students will be able to demonstrate progressive learning of various tax issues and tax forms related to individuals. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge in setting up a computerized set of accounting books
  • Learners will be able to prove proficiency with the ability to engage in competitive exams like CA, CS, ICWA and other courses.
  • Learners will acquire the skills like effective communication, decision making, problem solving in day to day business affairs.
  • Students will demonstrate progressive affective domain development of values, the role of accounting in society and business.
  • Students will learn relevant financial accounting career skills, applying both quantitative and qualitative knowledge to their future careers in business.
  • Students will learn relevant managerial accounting career skills, applying both quantitative and qualitative knowledge to their future careers in business.
  • Learners will gain thorough systematic and subject skills within various disciplines of commerce, business, accounting, economics, finance, auditing and marketing.
  • Learners will be able to recognize features and roles of businessmen, entrepreneur, managers, consultant, which will help learners to possess knowledge and other soft skills and to react aptly when confronted with critical decision making.
  • Learners will involve in various co-curricular activities to demonstrate relevancy of foundational and theoretical knowledge of their academic major and to gain practical exposure.
  • Learners can also acquire practical skills to work as tax consultant, audit assistant and other financial supporting services.
  • Learners will be able to do higher education and advance research in the field of commerce and finance.Course outcome
